If you are reading this then you have discovered my blog and have taken the time to come check it out and for that I have to say thank you! This is hands down the scariest thing I have ever done. Most people have a passion, a hobby they love. Hate to admit it but one of mine is shopping. I know on the surface that sounds so tacky and cliché. But truly I do. I love putting outfits together on a budget. It’s like a high for me to put something together that I truly love and know I did it for the look for less. I do it for myself and for Summer (Erik on the other hand…well let’s just say he tends to splurge on his clothes). I love when friends come to me for shopping or outfit advice. I love scrolling through Instagram and getting inspired by other fashion lovers. For so long I’ve wanted to share my great finds, my great outfits with others, but so much has held me back. Would I seem full of myself? Would I look like a narcissist? Would my friends think less of me? Would people think I lack style and character?
Just last night I listened to a great podcast on taking risks and not letting fear of failure hold you back. It’s nothing I haven’t heard before but it spoke to me differently this time. Why not? Why not share what I love? I don’t know all there is to know about fashion, but I know what I like and what makes me feel confident and happy. I don’t spend a fortune on a wardrobe. I am a mix of American Eagle and Nordstrom. I would take a pair of Dolce Vita wedges over Louboutins any day (yes I just admitted that!). I am not the prettiest girl out there. There’s always someone that is prettier. I have NO idea what I am doing on Instagram or how to build a website but I’m here and I’m trying. Yes it’s taken me 3 months to build this little simple blog and Instagram scares the crap out of me! I have much to learn but I also have much to share. I am not here with a dream that I’ll be some big fashion blogger making a ton of money one day, but I do have a small dream of sharing myself with the world. Let me share my style, my passion, and my little family with all of you. And while you read about us maybe you’ll discover a great pair of shoes in the process.
So to my early readers I ask of you a few small things:
- I ask for you to be patient with me. Be patient while I learn because the blogging world is really complicated. I might not have the coolest pictures or the best website but I’ll get there one day. Just be patient with me.
- Be gentle with your criticism. This is really freaking scary to put myself out there. I can only hope you enjoy seeing my shopping finds and the outfits I put together for my pretty simple day to day life.
- Help me shape the House of Leo into a place you love to come for a few minutes a day. Let me hear what you want me to blog about! Give me challenges. A date night outfit for under $50? Weekend fashion? You get the idea. Interact with me on any platform. Blogging can be really lonely. So to see you comment below or on Instagram or Facebook is really cool. It helps me know that someone out there is reading besides Erik and my mom.
- Like what you see so far? Share my blog and Instagram with your friends and family who you think would love a daily dose of fashion and inspiration. Obviously the more friends who I know are reading will only help me grow my confidence.
So that’s it. It’s official. I am a blog out in the world of a million other blogs but one that you hopefully will continue to follow and enjoy reading. I am excited to share my finds, model (yikes I’m terrible at it), share the tips that have worked for me and blog about being a mom, wife, daughter and style/fashion/beauty lover!
And with that I will close out this very long blog post with one of my favorite spring looks! This shirt is darling! Off the shoulder (ots), ruffles, the color….perfect combination. I paired it here with skinny jeans and the very on trend block heel of the season. These come in a higher version but I like the lower block heel for everyday office wear and they are perfect when I wear them around Erik (he’s not the tallest). I finished the look off with classic Tory Burch pearls. Oh and little Summer is pretty in pink in a classic tutu dress and if you read my blog posts below then you’ll know how much I love to add in a denim vest to complete a look.
Shop my look: Endless Rose Top / American Eagle Jeans (LOVE this wash!) /Tory Burch Necklace / Sam Edelman block heel here, here and here / Sam Edelman Sandals (high version)
Shop Summer’s look: Old Navy tutu dress similar here / Old Navy denim vest /Old Navy jelly sandals
