Anyone else find it so difficult to buy gifts for men? I always want to put a personal touch on a gift but Father’s Day is like mass advertisement for beer, favorite sports teams and golf. How much Yankees or Giants stuff do you really want your man wearing? Does Dad really need another golf shirt or tie? Sorry but how boring.
I’m lucky in the regard that Erik likes to shop. He cooks. Actually I should say he cooks EVERY night for me. He likes to golf. This makes it pretty easy to shop for him. So with him in mind I rounded up some of Erik’s favorite must haves and thought maybe one of them might be good for the dads or husbands you are buying for this Father’s Day.
1. ALTERNATIVE V NECK here and here
Maybe it’s just me but I LOVE a man in a v neck! I think I have one in every color for Erik. This one by Alternative is so soft and comes in so many colors. We love all their clothing actually. Such sporty, cool t-shirt type pieces that are always budget friendly.
Erik took up drinking scotch a few years back. I used to say he was like an old man drinking that haha! But I thought it would look really nice for him to keep his scotch in a nice decanter on our liquor cabinet. I ordered these for Erik awhile back and had his initials monogrammed on them.
TIP: Add a nice bottle of liquor to complete the gift.
If your husbands or dads are still wearing the ol’ classic black belt it’s time to upgrade! I love a good casual belt on a guy. This one Erik got for a wedding. Yup. Can be worn with a suit, jeans, or shorts.
4.FLIP FLOPS Hugo Boss
They don’t have to be Hugo Boss, but get a nice pair of flip flops. No more shower looking flip flops for running errands or going to the beach. Other great brands for cool flip flops: Diesel and Havianas
These are the BEST gifts! This one is from Pottery Barn and can be monogrammed. They are great used on the night stand to store glasses, wallet, chapstick, watch, etc.
Well if you are gonna do it (the classic golf shirt) try to get a fitted one with breathable fabric. Under Armour makes some great ones.
TIP: If you are gonna go with the boring old golf shirt make sure you add in a box of golf balls or a gift card for the golf range.
I’m not lying when I say I cook maybe 4 meals a year. Erik cooks dinner every night and he is one of those nutty guys who grills all year even in the dead of winter. I got him one of these salt plates last year and it’s amazing. He puts shrimp on it, kabobs, veggies. It gives off such great flavor.
TIP: Add some spices, an apron or cook book to complete the gift.
Erik’s ride or die after shave. He swears by this stuff! What I love about L’Occitane is the gift packaging. No matter what you buy they package it up so nicely and if you order online they will send you the box, tissue and ribbon so you can gift wrap it yourself.
I kind of cringed at putting this on here because it’s so common but what man doesn’t wear cologne? Still going strong after all these years are Erik’s classic favs: Hugo Boss and Abercrombie. Who doesn’t love to shop in A&F and come home with clothes smelling like their sexy cologne? Now Erik has it in his everyday rotation.
