When you hear the phrase “Christmas in July” they are talking about hands down the BIGGEST sale of the year. Black Friday has nothing on this sale. Those massive sale blowouts can’t even come close. The best sale of the year for fashion lovers is the Nordstrom Anniversary sale and get ready ladies because it goes off this week! I am rounding up what you need to know to prepare yourself for our Christmas in July!
WHAT IS THE NORDSTROM ANNIVERSARY SALE 2018
Most sales are a roundup of items that retailers want to get rid of to prepare for next season. BUT not this sale. Every year in July the Nordstrom Anniversary sale goes off and it contains a massive amount of NEWLY released fall and winter items. These items have not been on the website or in the store prior to the sale. From sweaters to jeans to shoes to coats and more — all these new items are discounted up to 40% BUT only for a limited time. From designer labels like AG jeans and Tory Burch to budget friendly brand favs like BP you’ll find all the fall trends and everyday basics on sale. Here’s the catch though. Once the sale is over all these items go back to full price.
WHAT TO BUY
While we are all enjoying our shorts and flip flops right now I urge you to think ahead to your fall and winter wardrobe and stock up on what you’ll need. The most popular items for the #nsale are always booties, sweaters, cardigans, scarves, coats and denim. Those are the things on my shopping list but also popular are beauty markdowns such a makeup and hair tools, mens clothing (yes we gotta keep the hubbies happy) and kids clothing (think back to school). Here’s a look at some of my purchases from last year’s sale.
KEY DATES
The early access sale kicks off for Nordstrom cardholders Thursday 7/12. If you are a cardholder you get to shop before the public until 7/19. And let me just tell you something most items will sell out before the sale opens to the public on 7/20. I cannot stress enough GET A NORDSTROM CREDIT CARD so you can shop the sale early. Otherwise you’ll be waiting for items to be re-stocked which doesn’t always happen. You can apply for a Nordstrom credit card here. Prices go back up on 8/6.

MY STRATEGY TIPS
- Take a look at your closet and see what you are missing for fall and winter. Do you have a faux moto jacket? Booties? Need cardigans? Scarves? Need new riding boots? Make a list and then use that as a guide. You can preview the Nordstrom Anniversary sale catalog here, but again this is just a sprinkle of what they will have.
- Nordstrom offers free shipping and returns. THINGS SELL FAST! If you are unsure about sizing order multiple options because chances are the size you need won’t be there when you go back for it. Plus you can always return in store if that is easier for you.
- Online will have WAY more to choose from than going to the store. I may pop into Nordstrom next weekend to do a try on for you but honestly the online catalog is the best way to shop this sale. The selection in store cannot even come close to what they offer online and with free shipping and returns via USPS there really is no reason to be running to the store. Online is the way to go in my opinion.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM ME
