This summer, our Summer, made milestones in the water. Helps that our girl has always loved the water but this summer she took her swimming to an entire new level. By August she was diving in our pool and riding waves on her boogie board in the ocean and swimming under the waves with zero hesitation. Her lessons at Goldfish swim school really helped her to keep swimming with amazing confidence and advanced her water confidence to another level.
Summer had one on one lessons at another swim school last year that gave her the foundations for swimming, but after a long winter of no swimming she was completely rusty in the spring when she hit the water again. We enrolled for 8 weeks of lessons at Goldfish Swim School in Middletown to get her brushed up on her swimming.
We were so impressed with the entire facility. Everything is catered to children which makes it a fun and an inviting experience. I think it is crucial that the setting of your swim school makes it a place that kids want to be.
The kids are broken up into small classes based on skill level. While they have their swim instructor they also have lifeguards that walk up and down the pool while the lessons are going on so you can feel completely safe about your kids in the pool.
While the school caters to kids they also make it accommodating for parents. With chairs lined up in front of a huge glass window you can easily watch your child’s lesson front and center. When kids are done swimming, parents are called into the pool area where they have showers right by the pool with soap and shampoo so you can wash you child off right there. You can then bring your child into a private cabana to dress them, use a fast drying machine to dry their swimsuits and then they have a hair dryer station to dry your child’s hair. Genius for parents who don’t have to worry about kids leaving with wet heads, soaking suits and you get to skip bath night when your child has swim glass!
As for our lessons, we started off at a basic level but after a few weeks moved into the next level to challenge Summer’s swimming. Kids are watched and judged closely to see when they should test out to go into the next level so you don’t have to worry about your child not being challenged or on the flip struggling to keep up.
Her 8 weeks of lessons furthered her swimming skills and helped deepen her confidence with swimming. Whether your child has never swam or they can swim but need to advance their skill and confidence Goldfish has a class for them.
September marks the time of year when we are putting our kids back into soccer, dance, gymnastics, etc but I know the importance in incorporating swim lessons into the after school activities. Kids continue to build confidence, strength and skill as time goes on. Don’t let a long fall and winter break weaken one of the most necessary life skills your child needs.
While Summer went to the Goldfish school in Middletown they also have newly opened facility in Manalapan and a scheduled opening this fall in Denville.
