This outfit honestly deserved a post all of it’s own. I did a recap of my NYFW weekend in this post but with so many party photos I thought I would do a traditional NYC outfit post by itself. I’m not gonna lie. Picking an outfit was stressful. I had so many different ideas but what I wore to for the NYFW Reward Style party was pretty classic, simple but had a little edge.

It was an amazing night and one I’ll never forget. In a field with so much competition and comparison it can be hard at times to stay positive and not stress if you are good enough. I was scared of not knowing anyone but I came out with new friends. I was scared I wasn’t going to look like I belonged, but you know what I stayed true to who I am and I was me. That’s the thing in the blogging world. You gotta put yourself out there. You gotta stay true to who you are. That’s why people follow you. Don’t cave to be like everyone else. Be you. At the end of the day I’m just a mom who loves fashion for the everyday life. I’m not in my 20s. Heck I’m almost out of my 30s. I’m not a model. I look like absolute hell at pick up and drop off. But I love blogging. I love that I have built this into a full time career and I’m living out my dream to share my passion for fashion with all of you. God that sounded so cheesy but it’s the truth.
This weekend gave me so much validation. This is exactly where I want to be and I enjoyed every moment of it. Next time I’ll respond yes to more shows and events but this year’s NYFW was all about celebrating the work I have put into not only Reward Style but the success of where I am with my blog. So much has changed since I started, amazing things keep happening and I can’t tell you how much it means to me that you all follow and support this dream.
Ok onto the outfit. I kept my outfit for Friday’s event pretty simple with jeans and a statement top so I wanted to step it up for Saturday night but also stay comfortable.
You can’t go wrong with black and you certainly can’t go wrong with a wrap dress. This dress was only $60 and is perfect for petites. It is short so keep that in mind if you are taller. For size reference I’m wearing a size 2.
The dress comes with a black tie sash that you can tie but I opted to add a belt. If you follow any bloggers on Instagram you may have seen that everyone is all over the Gucci and Louis Vuitton dupe belts right now. I am not one for using knockoffs but this Gucci inspired belt was too good of a dupe to pass up! No shame here. The belt is not the real thing but every once in awhile you gotta do things in the name of fashion haha!
As for the shoes mine are old. Like crazy old. I even tried selling them on my Poshmark account. Now I’m thankful no one scooped them up because the ivory added something different to an otherwise ordinary black dress. Dear booties, I promise to never try and sell you again. You kept my feet comfy all night and totally made me love my outfit. I did link 2 similar options in the widget at the end of the post.
I did my makeup myself but did get my hair blown out and had the topknot put in because well — why not! It’s NYFW. Gotta step it up! And God knows my topknots are a total fail most days. What is it about topknots and messy buns? So impossible to pull off when the pressure is on!
And that’s a wrap! A memorable NYFW weekend in the books! The nerves turned into smiles, laughs and memories that will last a lifetime! And even more special that I had my HOLB squad be there for a part of it. I didn’t name this blog House of Leo for nothing!
