Confidence. You might think because I’m a blogger and I put myself out there everyday that confidence is something that has come easy for me. It’s actually the complete opposite. It’s something I’ve battled internally and externally my entire life. I’m partnering with Evereve today to tell you my story of how I finally found my own confidence and how I push myself daily to live boldly and bravely.
I was always the quiet one growing up. Never in the cool crowd. Never the best dressed. Always insecure. I went through a ton of ups and downs, like most of us I’m sure, but I really didn’t find myself until later.
I hated my teen years. Those were the awkward years of trying to fit in. I had zero confidence back then. I would get knocked down what seemed like everyday and never wanted to get back up. I have my parents to thank for helping me get through those emotional years. I made a boatload of mistakes in my 20s. I spent that decade trying to figure out who I was, embracing the freedom of no longer being a teen but still no idea of who I really was. It wasn’t until my 30s that I started stepping out of the box and challenging myself. The responsibilities of owning a home, being a wife and mother are the things that have shaped me into who I am today but I still found myself wanting more.
The biggest risk I ever took was launching my blog. Yes, my love of fashion is one of the factors that drove me to start a blog but the truth is I yearned for a challenge that would force me to put myself out there and inspire others. I wanted to build something that was all my own. I wanted to inspire others to see that you can look and feel your best everyday. I wanted to share my story of life, self growth and confidence with all of you.
It wasn’t easy getting to where I am today. So much judgement, opinions both good and bad, support from most while little from others. But that is my story of confidence. It’s being confident in the decision I made. Being confident to brush the judgement off my back. Being confident that I am doing 100% of what I love every single day. It’s made me so much stronger than I ever thought I was! I may look like I have it together but I’m no different from anyone else. I have challenges daily of being a mom, wife and growing a business. There are days I want to break down and cry for no reason, but the difference in who I am today is that I have the courage to get back up, grow from the experience and push ahead stronger and with even more confidence. If I could go back and tell my teen self to get back up I don’t think it would’ve made a difference. Confidence is something we have to build overtime. It comes from experience, grows out of disappointments and accomplishments and is a constant work in progress.
And this is why I love fashion. One of the easiest ways of self expression is through the clothes we wear. My own confidence has grown through my own style and fashion.
