So much goodness in today’s post. First I’m rounding up the best yellow dresses for spring because let’s face it — what color screams spring more than yellow? I shot these photos with an old dear friend who was my first photographer and we discovered the cutest lil coffee shop for our setting!
SHOP MY LOOK:
I was drawn to the classic, feminine yet slightly boho styling of this dress. It has buttons all the way down the front and is maxi style. But the maxi was not too long on me with wedges.
This dress also comes in blue but that yellow? Just so so good. I have always been drawn to yellow dresses and this one is just perfection.
As for the price? Under $60! What a score. I even think you can throw on sneakers with this one and dress it down. Just love everything about it.
It was nice to give Erik a day off from shooting. I have been using April Narby for our family photos for years. Many of you have seen mine and Summer’s annual mommy and me photo shoots that April has done for us since Summer was 10 days old.
April just always catches great moments and does an amazing job at photo storytelling. After years of using her she has become a dear family friend and gave Erik the guidance he needed to take my photos. We owe so much to April. From the photos on our wall documenting Summer’s childhood to helping Erik and I perfect this blog’s photos — April has and continues to help us create beautiful photographic memories. In case you missed it last year you can see our Mother’s Day shoot here.
And as for the location of this shoot? Well having April to shoot for the day I wanted to go somewhere Erik and I have not shot before and we wanted to do something completely different.
We stopped at The French Market in Rumson and it was the dreamiest location. Quaint, French, chic and the staff couldn’t be sweeter. The woman working there said her daughter follows my blog. Too sweet!
Just adored this sweet market and we ended our day catching up and being very “French” drinking coffee and having quiche and pastries.
Days like this are just so refreshing. While I love shooting with Erik I often feel we just shoot so fast and lose that magic that goes into photos. I’m not complaining one bit. It’s part of my job. I have a calendar filled with looks and collabs that need to be completed. BUT sometimes it’s nice to just step back, enjoy the company, enjoy the setting and take in the moment. This shoot was a reminder of that.
