10 MUST HAVE ITEMS TO ADD TO YOUR CLOSET THIS SPRING

I shot 3 different outfits for the week and realized these looks all have some of my absolute must haves for spring. Simple pieces that can be styled a ton of ways and accessories that are affordable and oh so fun! Rounding up my top 10 must have items to add to your closet this spring.

MUST HAVE #1: BOYFRIEND/MOM/TOMGIRL JEANS

If you haven’t added the boyfriend jean, mom jean or tomgirl (yes they are all the same thing) to your closet yet then get going! No other pair of jean says cool, comfy and stylish like the boyfriend jean.

So you all saw the pair I was styling last month and they sold out pretty quickly. I went back to American Eagle and ordered these to switch off with and I’m obsessed with them. They fit just like my others.

True to size, button fly and so comfy. I’m wearing a size 2 short and you guys — these are fully stocked right now! Throw these on with flip flops, sneakers or dress them up with heels. These are a must have for spring!

MUST HAVE #2: BASIC WHITE TEE OR TANK

Pretty simple right? Well I can’t tell you how many times I get a message asking where to buy the best basic white tee. For tanks I’m obsessed with this one from Express. I am wearing an XS. For white tees this one and this one are two of my favs.

MUST HAVE #3: HAIR ACCESSORIES

Headbands, hair scarves and hair bows are HUGE right now. I’ve been wearing these in my hair for as long as I can remember but being they are trending big time right now the websites are stocked to the brim with them! MUST HAVE #4: DENIM SKIRT

I gave you guys a sneak peak of this skirt in Sunday’s blog post seen here. I was on the hunt for a mini skirt that is mom friendly and this one is insanely good. I’ve been wearing it non-stop!

Comes in other washes but I just love a good classic wash. Size up in this. I’m wearing a size 27.

MUST HAVE #5: BASIC CAMI

So we have the basic must have tank and tees but you also need a basic cami that can be styled alone or layered. Express has some of my favorite ones.

MUST HAVE #6: LAYERED GOLD NECKLACE AND STATEMENT EARRINGS

Broken record over here but you all know for the most part I dress in solids and accessorize with jewelry. If you are a longtime follower of HOLB then you know I have an extensive collection of gold layered necklaces. This one from Amazon is a steal. And one of my favorite ways to finish an outfit is with a good statement earring. These will stop people in their tracks! These earrings are just that beautiful!

MUST HAVE #7: STRAW BAG

No other bag says warm weather like a straw bag. Mine is from last year (and a ton of you scooped this one up when I featured it last year) but I’m linking a ton of other straw bag options in the widget below.

MUST HAVE #8: LIGHTWEIGHT TOP

I feel like every spring Free People comes out with the perfect must have lightweight top that you can wear all spring and can be worn for cool summer nights. This is that top! I am wearing a small. Linking it at a few retailers at the end of this post.

MUST HAVE #9: STATEMENT ESPADRILLES

I’ve featured simple, closet staple espadrilles but another must have that you need to add into rotation is a good statement espadrille. My love for all things leopard is still going strong and these espadrilles from Marc Fisher are amazing. They are high but there is no arch so they are super comfy. MUST HAVE #10: BRALETTE

These fun bralettes started trending last year and I feel like they made a fashion impact the way the legging did many moons ago. When leggings made their debut the world was never the same again. The bralette to me was just what women needed. How many times do we wear tops, dresses and sweaters and you don’t want your bra strap to show? Enter the bralette. These delicate little amazing beauties are meant to be shown! Let them peek out with their pretty lace details! No more saying I can’t wear that top because I don’t have the right bra.
