If you watch my stories then you saw a short little yard tour a few weeks back. I gave you a glimpse at all the planting we did this year and some new items I’ve added to the yard but I’ve been getting requests to share more of our yard and more of what we purchased. SO I’m finally bringing you a a backyard tour and patio finds post!
SHOP THE POST:

A little background on the yard first. We bought our home back in 2012 and pretty much remodeled the entire interior. We put the pool in 2016 so this is our 6th season with it already! Goes so fast. Our house is an English tudor so we wanted to keep the pool style and landscaping very English garden looking to match the home. You can also see this post here and here for some interior home pics.

I looked everywhere for a before pic of the yard but I can’t find one. Just picture nothing back here except trees! We wanted a rectangle pool with the slate coping to keep a very clean look. The liner is actually black and over the years has really lightened up.

GLOBE LIGHTS
The landscaping is pretty intense. There is A LOT of upkeep. Tons of boxwoods, roses and hydrangeas all in white, pink and purple. I have a slight obsession with boxwoods. We have traditional ones, as well as topiary, Christmas tree ones and God only knows what else. Basically if it’s a form of boxwood then I have to have it! My wedding flowers were also hydrangeas and we have all different kinds that bloom at different times during the summer.

Our house originally had a small deck but we added on and added the french door off the kitchen. Being our house is raised we wanted a large deck where we could really look out over the pool and yard. Under the deck we added a roof so we could have seating under there and storage. Eventually we would like to add a better deck rather than wood but we aren’t ready for that expense yet. Got other things on this list haha!

As for patio finds — the loungers I had gotten when we first installed the pool and they have held up great. I really need to get new cushions as these have faded so much over the years so I’m not even going to link those. But the umbrellas have become one of my favorite patio finds year and everyone who sees them loves them! Love that throwback scallop detail!

This is actually one of my favorite areas. We sit out here all the time. The couch set is from Pottery Barn and probably a good 10 years old. We had an enclosed porch at our last house and when we moved here we had it stored in the basement for years. Last year we finally got a cover for it and decided we should start enjoying it. Summer sits out here in the morning and eats her breakfast while I work and evenings you can catch us (not Summer) enjoying White Claws and relaxing.

The topiary trees were passed onto me from my old neighbor. Hi Sandy! I know you are reading this. She always had the most beautiful topiary trees on her porch and after she moved she gave them to me. And here is a tip for the pillows. You don’t have to buy expensive outdoor pillows. If you have old show pillows in your house just use those. As long as you cover them or take them inside they work great!

I also strung Christmas lights all down the deck and Erik hung globe lights along the fence and it’s amazing how it changes the feel of the yard at night! I just order the brown wire lights so it doesn’t look like Christmas with that dark green wire.

So there you have it! These pics weren’t the best but it gives you a better idea of what our yard looks like and hopefully you found some patio finds!

Tammy – your yard tour is great. Love it, love it, love it. i enjoy my own back patio just about year round and remember when we lived in NJ and how much time we spent in our outdoor area and the wonderful times at your dad’s in Old Bridge. So I know the attraction and desire you had for wanting a “gorgeous” outdoor living space. The plantings are so lovely. One of the (FEW) things I miss about NJ are the summer blooms and my vegetable garden. the plantings are reminiscent of a typical “English Garden”. (Downton abbey????) The lights do add that something special. And i know that not only your little family loves being outdoors but i know (from experience) how thoughtful, kind and welcoming the LEO family is to guests. So congrats again for your creative talents not only for fashion but also for decor – both interior and exterior.
Love from Aunt Jeanie
OMG! I absolutely love it! If I were you, I would spend hours lazing by the pool. One can see how much thought and work you have contributed to making this as stunning as it is. The furniture complements the ambience and the plants by the pool are a delight to behold.
