No usual Thursday blog post today. Just a moment to wish you all Happy Holidays from HOLB. We all know this holiday season and this entire year for that matter looked much different from year’s past but I hope you can find peace and comfort in the most beautiful holiday of the year.
Whether you are surrounding yourself with just immediate family, doing a Zoom get together or a small gathering with friends and extended family — I hope you will all reflect on whatever good came of this year.
It was absolutely a trying year for all of us. Careers were affected. Our children’s innocence of just going to school and being kids was replaced with virtual connections on computers. Our roles as parents shifted to learning to be teachers. Simple pleasures we took for granted were looked at differently. Something as loving and carefree as a handshake or hug took on new meanings.
One day we will look back on 2020 and remember the challenges but also remember the good. While our patience was tested, many bonds were strengthened. Those bonds with friends and family took on new meanings.
I look forward to the day we will get back to “normal.” Although normal may never look like what normal used to look like — I can only hope that we will one day shake hands and get back to hugging without hesitation. One day I hope the masks will come off and we will recognize each other as we pass them by in stores and at school pickup.
Let this holiday season be a reminder to cherish the everyday normals of our day to day life. A reminder to cherish every hug. And a reminder to appreciate all those we have in our life. Each person in your circle should bring out the best in you. Find your tribe whether it’s made of family, strong and supportive friends or just fluffy animals. Find a tribe. I know 2020 connected me to my tribe on a deeper level than ever before. That was something good to come out of 2020. Something REALLY, REALLY good.
And my closing thoughts as I was wish you Happy Holidays from HOLB — take time. We all get wrapped up in the stress of the holidays, the stress of the world and the stress of holding down so many roles. Remember to enjoy the moments of the holiday as those are the moments that make up the memories we reflect on from year to year. I couldn’t get everything done this past week and had to resort to baking cookies with Summer on a school night. We didn’t start till 8:30pm and we didn’t finish till almost 11pm. I let her stay up and decorate cookies and what did she say to me? “This is the most fun I’ve had with you Mommy.” That right there my friends. That is what it is all about. Those moments. Find the time for them even if it’s 11pm at night. Find the time.
Lots of love and Happy Holidays from HOLB! Wishing you all the most beautiful holiday!
Beautifully said Happy Holidays 😊 xo
