I don’t know about you but there have been so many times this past year that I’ve just felt rugged, drab and in need of some personal TLC. Ahem do we all recall those long months that all the salons were closed and we couldn’t cover our grays? Talk about rugged. And there have been easily more days than not that many of us opted for no makeup and stayed in our loungewear. We’ve all experienced it but enough is enough! I’m challenging you to get out of that rut should you still be feeling that way. Let’s talk how to kick the drab days of 2020 to the curb and discuss some reasons to consider facial aesthetics during the pandemic.
IT’S TIME FOR SOME YOU TIME
For all my mama followers this one is for you. This past year we’ve had to put ourselves to the bottom of our priorities while balancing the role of wife, mom and now virtual teacher. It’s been tough. I’ve suffered right along side you all. And while I agree our families come first I firmly believe we are our best selves when we can look in the mirror and feel good about who we see. We absolutely have to take care of ourselves. Starts with enough rest, exercise, the food we eat and yes — how we look. It’s not selfish. It’s not vain. 100% it’s important and we all have a right to invest in our appearance. So how do we do that?
PUT YOUR BEST FACE FORWARD
Now more than ever we are attending Zoom meetings, spending holidays on virtual calls with friends and family and having our monthly ladies nights sipping cocktails virtually. While we feel isolated in our homes the reality is more and more of us are actually having more face to face screen time. This is one of the biggest reasons to consider facial aesthetics during the pandemic. It’s called The Zoom Effect. More and more of us are actually becoming more aware of our own imperfections and seeing that fatigue and signs of aging while looking at our face on the screen.
INJECTABLES ARE BOOMING
So yes we can absolutely up our skincare regimen and start addressing our skincare concerns and that is an absolute must. But combining your skincare with injectables such as Botox or Xeomin can actually improve your facial appearance much quicker. Our eyes are one of the first areas to start showing signs of aging. Oh yeah — the forehead too. Let’s be honest it’s a BIG SPACE on our face! Botox and other neurotoxins such as Xeomin can effectively treat the appearance of forehead and eyebrow wrinkles as well as crow’s feet. It’s quick, easy, relatively painless and no down time at all!
Personally I have not yet had Botox or Xeomin anywhere other than my forehead. I get mine done every 3 months. But I will say nothing makes you look more well rested and refreshed. After treatment you will see your forehead wrinkles fade within a few days and it literally takes years off your face. While it doesn’t last forever (BOO!) the benefits of having it done every few months helps those lines to come back less and less over time.
Also booming right now in facial aesthetics are fillers. As you all know I had both lip fillers and cheek fillers done this year and man — what a difference those two procedures made!
Out of the 2 procedures I did I feel my lips took longer to heal. This brings me to another one of my reasons to consider facial aesthetics during the pandemic — MASKS! While there was no pain or real down time there was some swelling for a few days after. For those insecure about that this is the perfect time to consider fillers as you can cover up with a mask! You can read all about when I had lip fillers done at Etoile Cosmetic Medicine Studio here.
As for cheek fillers, this one procedure can rejuvenate the face like none other. Volume loss in the face is a clear sign of aging. Fillers in the cheeks and around the mouth can instantly rejuvenate the face. And again, for any bruising and swelling we are able to take advantage of wearing masks to conceal us for a few days post treatment. See this post for a refresher of when I had my cheek fillers done. Convinced that injectables are just what you need for a facial refresh? My friends at Etoile Cosmetic Medicine Studio offer 15% off injectables for 1st time clients when you mention me at booking.
DITCH THE WAXING
Not only did the closure of hair salons leave us with gray hair sprouting like weeds but our brows, bikini lines and lip hairs also sprouted! This caused a huge increase in women considering laser hair removal. This brings me to one of my next reasons to consider facial aesthetics during the pandemic.
Laser hair removal ladies. Something I’ve wanted to do for years and just never took the plunge until recently. With so many wax salons being closed it really got me thinking. I don’t want to have to rely on a wax studio every few weeks to strip my hair. Makes complete sense to invest in laser hair removal as after 5 to 6 sessions it’ll be gone for good!
Furthermore, now that hair, nail and wax studios are open in most places many are still weary of going to them because of close contact. I totally get it. Laser hair removal will eliminate the need to have to keep going in for wax sessions.
I just had my 3rd session of laser hair removal from Etoile Cosmetic Medicine Studio and can absolutely say the timing is perfect. Any redness I have after my sessions is easily concealed with a mask. That same mask also protects my skin from any sun exposure. I’m currently having my lip, chin, underarms, and bikini line done. I will put out a full blog post recapping the entire experience after I’m done. Hopefully just 2 to 3 more sessions. We space them out every 5-6 weeks.
TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE NOW
Truly there is no better time to invest in ourselves. Mentally we feel better when we take care of ourselves. Physically we will feel better when we take care of ourselves. How good does it feel when we splurge on that new sweater or pair of shoes? Imagine how great it feels when we shift and invest it on our skin and face. We have all been through enough this past year. No doubt it’s been a stressful time. With less activities to go to, less dinners out, less vacations to take — it really creates the perfect opportunity to invest more into how we look and feel. Hopefully these reasons to consider facial aesthetics during the pandemic resonated with you. I hope they helped validate what you may have been wanting to do but couldn’t quite justify. It’s time girlfriend. It’s time for YOU!
