Would you believe in almost 4 years of blogging I don’t actually think I’ve done a save vs splurge blog post. I’m forever showing you highs and lows in this neck of the woods. And quite honestly I love both saves and splurges. We all have different budgets though and while I think saving is what most of us lean towards — a good splurge is always fun here and there. Today I’m bringing you my save vs splurge spring edition. I actually think I have almost every item on both sides of the collage so I’ll give you my 100% honest feedback on whether I suggest the splurge is worth it or if the save will cut it!
SHOP THE POST:
1| VINTAGE HAVANA STAR SNEAKERS $140 VS GOLDEN GOOSE SNEAKERS(also here) $555
So for ages I’ve been showing you various styles of Vintage Havana star sneakers. This brand has been a top seller around here as they offered a great dupe style to the pricey Golden Goose. Not gonna lie girls — I bought my first pair of Golden Goose this week. I had a really, really good month and decided to splurge. I’m going to do an entire blog post reviewing them but I will say for me — 100% worth the splurge. They fit my narrow foot perfectly and are way more comfy than the Havana’s. Even P448 are a great alternative to Havana’s. If you are happy with a style sneaker on a budget the Havana’s fit the bill. BUT if you want comfort I’d highly suggest springing for Golden Goose or even P448.
2 | TARGET SLIDES $14.99 VS TORY BURCH SPORT SLIDES $198
I have both of these save vs splurge sandals. The Target slides will last you the season and give you that cloud sandal look that is trending. BUT if you want a sandal that will last a few years I highly say go for the splurge. Full review of the Tory Burch slides in this post.
3 | JOURNEE COLLECTION SLIDES $39.99 VS CHLOE SLIDE SANDALS $370
I can’t comment on the Chloe sandals as I don’t have them nor have I ever tried them. BUT I will say that the Journee Collection ones for me are a homerun. Super comfy and really give that look for less.
4 | TARGET BOMBER JACKET $35 VS MARRAKECH JACKET $120
The Marrakech splurge jacket has easily been one of my favorite spring purchases. I literally wear it with everything, but if you are on a budget I think you can easily be happy with the Target one. Full review of Marrakech in this post.
5 | AMAZON SUNNIES $17 VS QUAY AUSTRAILIA SUNNIES $65
Love my Quay sunnies but I’m forever losing mine or breaking them so I personally feel the Amazon ones win this save vs splurge.
6 | AMAZON PADLOCK NECKLACE $6 VS SEQUIN PADLOCK NECKLACE (code TAMMY20 for 20% off)
Personally I haven’t gotten the Amazon one but based on my other Amazon jewelry I don’t think you can compare the 2 at all. Gotta go with the splurge on this one. That padlock necklace that you see me wear daily is 100% worth the splurge. It’s gorgeous in person, so well made and really makes a statement. If you see me wear something that often then you know I love it.
7 | AMAZON JOGGERS $34 VS LULULEMON ALIGN JOGGERS $98
I don’t have the align joggers from Lululemon and to be honest I just find Lulu to be very overpriced for what it is. Sorry that is just me! I showed you the Amazon ones in this post and highly recommend them. Workout material, tons of colors and really good quality.
8 | EXPRESS MOM JEANS $88 VS AGOLDE RILEY JEANS $198
Oh this is a tough save vs splurge as I love both lines of denim here. If I had to choose I’d go with the splurge. I’ve said it a million times to you — premium denim just gets better and better each time you wear them. This pair by Agolde is in my top 5 pairs of favorite denim of all time. See them styled in this post. The Express pair can be found styled in this post.
9 | MARC JACOBS TOTE BAG $150 VS SAINT LAURENT TOTE $1250
Look I have my fair share of expensive designer bags in my closet. BUT $1250 for a beach style tote bag just seems excessive to me. (says the girl who just bought worn in Golden Goose LOL) I gotta say the Marc Jacobs wins the save vs splurge in this battle. It’s a great size although you can get the larger one but the price point on all sizes is just very do-able to me for a tote bag. See this post for my full review.
10 | FREE PEOPLE MAKAI SHORTS $68 VS AGOLDE PARKER SHORTS $128
I have both of these shorts and this is another tough one for who wins save vs splurge. Both have a nice relaxed fit and true denim feel. While I love both I’d still have to give my vote to Agolde. Again — they just get better and better over time. I’m going into year 3 with my original Agolde Parker shorts and they are still better than ever.
So what did we think of this save vs splurge spring edition? Honestly you can’t go wrong with any of these but I always think it’s good to hear what items others feel are worth the investment. Cheers to saving and splurging! It’s all about balance my girlfriends!
