Don’t worry. The full trip recap will be up by the weekend but first I’m going to recap all my Disney fashion and lay out some outfit ideas for Disney World. One of the biggest stresses I had with this trip was what to wear. I knew going on a Disney campaign trip with 14 other bloggers there would be some great outfits. I wanted to look Disney cute but at the same time be comfortable because we all know 2 elements play into a trip to Disney — the heat and the walking! Think I accomplished comfort and cute on our 5 day escapade to the most magical place in the world.
Obviously you could make this easy and pick out a Disney tee or tank, but if you don’t want to spend on Disney attire you may never wear again you can coordinate with Disney colors and accessories like I did here. You can’t go wrong with denim shorts and a breathable tank. Loved how the pop of red in my tank matched my ears and bag.
But for days you don’t want to sport denim shorts then cotton ones work great too with a fun tank (see it styled again in this post) and some cute Disney accessories. Also a word about sneakers. Love the New Balance ones I’m sharing in some of my outfit ideas for Disney World BUT they are considered more a lifestyle sneaker and to be honest — my feet were beat by the end of the day. I’d say pack a pair of lifestyle sneakers for shorter days but for long days you 100% want to pack a high quality running sneaker. These are actually the ones I workout in and I felt zero pain in them. Highly recommend these for park days at Disney! And I mean red or pink just works for Disney anyway!
It doesn’t have to just be shorts though ladies. Skirts make the perfect outfit ideas for Disney World. Obviously you just want to opt for performance skirts that are lightweight, short and not constricting.
And you know all those frilly skirts you have in your closet? Break them out for Disney! They look so sporty and cute when paired with sneakers! Additionally you’ll want a bookbag or crossbody bag. Erik did a bookbag and I did the cute Minni Mouse crossbody for keeping quick things like my phone, antibacterial and sunglasses case.
Or you could do a skort. This one got delivered after we got home from Disney but would’ve worked out perfectly. Has built in shorts, mesh outside and a side slit for easy movement.
I’d say pack at least 1 outfit you can wear to a casual dinner and not feel like you are in park attire. Kimonos are lightweight to pack and sass up your basic shorts and tank outfit.
Another tip when planning outfit ideas for Disney World — coordinate your bathing suit colors with your family. They really make such a difference with photos! And we all know there’s A LOT of photos taken on a Disney vacation. See full review of this suit in this Amazon haul.
And now let’s talk accessories for Disney. Obviously I didn’t buy any Disney tops for myself but personally I didn’t feel I needed them after I found some cute accessories. The Minnie ear headbands will run you $30 in the park. I ordered a bunch on Amazon for a fraction of the cost and just coordinated them to match all of my outfits.
HEADBAND | SUNGLASSES | NECKLACE (code TAMMY20 for 20% off)
My suggestion is to either lay your outfits out ahead of time and then order your ears or order 1 dark set of ears and 1 light set to really match what you’ll be wearing.
And yes — include a hat! That sun is blazing and there is very little shade at the parks!
JEANS | BODYSUIT | SANDALS | MY HEADBAND | SUMMER’S HEADBAND | TOTE BAG (code TAMMY20 for 20% off) | FLAMINGO SUITCASE
If you are going in summer you probably won’t need to bring jeans when planning outfit ideas for Disney World, but my tip is to wear a pair on the plane because it’s always freezing when you fly and then you have a pair of jeans just in case!
- Pack at least 2 outfits a day (one for the morning at the park and one for the evening). You will sweat through your first outfit of the day so you’ll want a fresh outfit for the 2nd part of the day.
- Do not wear thongs LOL! Seriously just don’t. You will sweat in areas you didn’t think you could sweat. Also you are walking miles upon miles. There is no thong in the world that can hold up to that much mileage!
- Bring ponchos to the park in case of rain. Luckily we had zero rain which is not the norm, but I bought this family pack and had them in our bag every single day.
- Wear foundation with SPF in it already. Less layers on the face when you are sweating. I wore this one the entire trip.
The last thing you should stress about when going to Disney is over what to wear. You should absolutely get festive with accessories. EVERYONE is sporting something Disney at the parks! But you should also be comfortable because an uncomfortable outfit or pair of shoes can and will absolutely ruin your vacation. Stay tuned this weekend for our full Disney vacation recap. Can’t wait to share all the magic with you for those who didn’t see my stories on Instagram. PS: I created 2 highlights on my IG of all the stories I posted!
