Move over skinny jeans. There’s a new playa in town. Actually we haven’t been wearing our skinny jeans in quite some time around here. But with all the denim in my closet I thought it would good to round up the best straight leg denim in my closet. I have my top 3 styles for you today and at 3 different price points. If there’s one thing I know it’s denim and this post has some really, really good denim.
SHOP THE POST:
This pair is nothing new around here. I’ve been wearing this exact pair a good year now and they just get better and better with each wear and wash. Coming in my top spot for the best straight leg denim is the Agolde Riley pair. They are the most expensive but they are truly worth every single penny. A year later and I love them even more now.
One of the best pairs I got in 2021 and it even came in as one of my best selling pieces last year. So here’s the thing with straight leg denim — my suggestion is you want the ankle to show a bit for the most chic look. I cut 99% of my jeans so that I can expose my ankle making them style easily with high tops, booties and flats. You can roll your straight leg denim but in my opinion you lose the streamlined look. So cut them girlfriends. It’s a game changer for denim.
MADEWELL THE PERFECT VINTAGE JEAN
Jumped on the Madewell denim train over the holidays and have no idea why I didn’t jump on sooner. This is the only brand to come close to my love for Agolde denim. True denim with no stretch and a great high rise fit. Out of all 3 pairs this pair reminds me of good old school true denim.
As for sizing you’ll want to size down 1 in this Madewell pair. Right now they are on sale making them a great middle of the road priced denim.
Coming in at the #3 spot is this pair from Express. I styled these in this blog post and truly have been loving them so much. For affordable denim that is on trend and still great quality Express wins every single time.
This pair is also high rise and has a slight bit of stretch making them super comfortable. I cut this pair as well and styled them with heels but love them equally with sneakers. See? Cutting the hem opens up an entire world of fashion opportunity and styling!
So there you have it. The best straight leg denim at all price points. Are straight leg denim similar to mom jeans? Yes absolutely. I just find a true mom jean to be a bit more relaxed whereas straight leg denim is just a tad more streamlined. Trust me — I had a hard time breaking up with my skinny jeans but once I cut the tie and tried straight leg denim it was a game changer. Literally all I wear these days. If you are ready to try a pair I highly recommend any of these styles.
