Finally doing the big reveal of Summer’s boho chic tween bedroom. Ironically sharing this on the day she begins 5th grade. So bittersweet. Excited for her to be growing up but sad seeing the little girl start to fade away. This was the summer she was finally ready to transition her bedroom. While today I’m revealing her new room, it’s also the reveal of a new chapter in our life. The next stage. So long little girl and hello to the tween era. It’s scary and exciting all at the same time. This bedroom is everything that Summer is right now. Happy, delicate, groovy and unqiue all mixed into one.

I wish I had a good before photo of her bedroom, but I really don’t. All I can say is that it was all her own LOL. It was cluttered with dolls, trinkets and blankets. Honestly it was legendary! But she finally agreed to remove the clutter (just relocated to the basement – baby steps LOL) so we could make her boho chic tween bedroom come to life. We actually kept her comforter and I got this duvet cover to go over it. Perfect neutral with a soft design.
The main thing Summer wanted when doing her boho chic tween bedroom was the ivy wall. I suggested we keep it softer and do vines that had roses attached. Inbetween each vine are string lights that add such a cozy glow when she’s in there at night.
When I tell you there were at least 200 dolls in her room I’m not even exaggerating. Summer was adament on keeping a bunch in her room. So I made her a deal. I told her I would buy the largest possible basket and whatever fits can stay in her room. She packed that basket to the brim! But it worked and definitely keeps the clutter down. What can I say? She’s still got that little girl love of dolls in her.
I almost fell over when Summer decided on white for the walls. I thought for sure she would want pink! Our house is 95% white walls so guess we rubbed off on her. The paint color is the same as the rest of our house, Chantilly Lace. I have an entire blog post dedicated to our house makeover using this paint color here. Also, we didn’t update her furniture as we felt it’s a set that can continue to grow with her. And we were able to keep some of the exisiting artwork in her room.
In her prior room she had a smaller full length mirror that she grew out of. We ordered this one and I added the dream sign which was already on her wall.
As for the rug, Summer begged for a shaggy rug for her boho chic tween bedroom. This one is gorgeous in person. It has a muted rainbow design in a nice neutral that she won’t grow out of for awhile.
Summer has also been wanting a desk for her room. We used to have a bookcase in this corner but I was able to find a smaller desk to fit the space perfectly. AND it matched her exisitng dressers perfectly.
The final touch over the desk was an ornate mirror I got from Lowe’s! Thought it pulled the gold touches in her room together nicely. Plus these are pieces that she won’t grow out of in a few years. Heck when she gets tired of this mirror I’ll gladly take it!
And that’s the reveal of Summer’s boho chic tween bedroom. Still very much tween as you can see the dolls hanging from the headboard of her bed. I love that she’s still not in a complete rush to grow up. We were able to complete her room on a budget by using exisiting pieces from her room and just adding some new things to make her theme come to life. When I open her bedroom door now I honestly smile at how airy, bright and oh so Summer it is.

OMG my great niece is now eleven and ready for a “tween” boudoir. It does not seem as if it was that long ago that the nursery was being put together. All those sweet touches that made such a welcoming place for a very looked forward to arrival. And now that “very anticipated Miss” is ready for a room transition. And how perfectly charming the “Boho Chic” décor is. And how novel – the biggest basket for the doll collection. And I noticed some “carry overs”. I wonder if the “bunny sentiment” is intact. I was honored to finally see the nursery in “action” so many years ago. And happily, I was able to hear my very special “pre-teen great niece” describing the space that reveals her personality. Pretty, sleek, rosy, ruffled, twinkly, flowery, crisp, yet sentimental additions to a room that I agree is very “Summer”. I Love it!!!! Despite those BARE walls. Another Summer thing that will become “legendary”. Enjoy your new “digs”. Love from Aunt Jeanie
