Yesterday marked the first official day of SUMMER although I started celebrating my favorite season of the year about a month ago! With that being said if you haven’t swapped out your cold weather makeup yet it’s time to bring in some fresh summer colors. I know what you might be thinking looking at the picture above. There are no light, soft colors. I am such a LOVER of a bold lip year round. While I experiment with makeup all the time (Yup I’m a beauty junkie) my go to look is always a softer eye but a bold lip. Deep reds in the winter, plums in the fall and bright pinks and corals in the summer. I am definitely more of a pink girl and have too many shades of pink lipsticks to count! Most of the ones you’ll find here are MAC. There are other great makeup lines out there but MAC has always been my ride or die brand. I don’t love their shadows like I used to but their lipsticks are still my favorite. They are so pigmented and they wear so well.Read More
Anyone else drawn to the boho look? You know the cutoff shorts, flowy tops and gladiator sandals finished off with turquoise and gold bangles? It’s one of my favorite summer looks. So easy, carefree and screams summer. Let’s face it though, we can’t wear that look unless we are going to a BBQ, concert, etc. For those of you that work all summer (like me) you might feel limited with what you can wear all week. While I am lucky enough to work in an office where I don’t have to wear a suit and if I pair it right I can wear jeans with a dressier top I still like to incorporate my love of boho pieces into my summer work wardrobe.Read More
Today marks ONE MONTH since I launched House of Leo Blog! It feels like I have been doing this for so much longer. Probably because it took me so long to get this blog off the ground. I had such fear regarding what people would think. But I’m happy to say that fear is all behind me now. I can honestly say I absolutely LOVE my little blog. It’s not just about the clothes and the pictures. It’s such a creative outlet for me. I love sharing all my favorite things and sharing parts of my life with you. I have also connected with some amazing women while blogging who are so supportive and have so much in common with me. It’s so refreshing to meet girls who have the same passions and interests as me.
Anyone else find it so difficult to buy gifts for men? I always want to put a personal touch on a gift but Father’s Day is like mass advertisement for beer, favorite sports teams and golf. How much Yankees or Giants stuff do you really want your man wearing? Does Dad really need another golf shirt or tie? Sorry but how boring.
I’m lucky in the regard that Erik likes to shop. He cooks. Actually I should say he cooks EVERY night for me. He likes to golf. This makes it pretty easy to shop for him. So with him in mind I rounded up some of Erik’s favorite must haves and thought maybe one of them might be good for the dads or husbands you are buying for this Father’s Day.Read More
I’ll start off with a warning here…..these jeans are not going to be for everyone. You will either love them or hate them. I have gotten looks by people and I know they are thinking, “did this girl actually pay for these ripped jeans?” The answer is yes I actually did. This brings us back to this post where I talked about how I love ripped jeans and I can honestly blame my obsession for them on my mom for not letting me wear them when I was younger. Sorry Mom. I know these jeans aren’t your favorite pair and maybe I’m the only one that likes them, but the moral of this rant is wear what makes you feel good! This is something that plays into my little blogging journey. Everyday I have the same questions and fears. What will people think of this outfit? Does this even look good? Is this too over the top? Is this too ordinary? Bottom line is do you feel good in it? If so then wear it! I’m not saying go out there and look ridiculous but if you have a pair of jeans that make you feel good go ahead and wear them. If you have a bright, bold top flaunt it. Just pair these items with subdued pieces. Don’t always worry about what others will think. Embrace what makes you feel good! This is not news to anyone, but let it serve as a little reminder from me. Reminders are good every once in awhile.Read More
